Cantonese Opera - Behind the Masks Tour
Cantonese opera involves much more than just traditional culture and heritage. It is a fine art that includes fluid and graceful body movements and expressions. The drama in any opera comes from the elaborate and flamboyant costumes, exquisite wigs and colourful make-up worn by the actors. This programme is designed especially for foreign speaking audiences to allow them to get fully immersed in Cantonese opera. Participants will be introduced to the music and acting techniques, followed by a short demonstration.

Under the guidance of the instructor, you'll then be divided into groups of actors, singers and musicians. The finale comes at show time, when your group will present its very own Cantonese opera production! Get ready to don the ancient masks of this beautiful tradition and discover the mystery behind them.

Cooking Class
You've no doubt come to Hong Kong to feast on the local cuisine. So wouldn't it be great while you're in Hong Kong to learn how to cook some Chinese food on your own? Fortunately, it's possible to enroll in a cooking class that will teach you the basics of this culinary art. Whether it's dim sum, fried rice or a succulent fish dish, there are cooks eager to impart their knowledge to you.

Chinese-style cooking is different from other types of food preparation. It uses different cooking implements such as a wok and food is cooked at a high heat. Chinese cooks like to use only the freshest produce possible when preparing a meal. This is particularly true when selecting vegetables and meat. Part of the art of this cuisine is the blending of tastes to produce a mouth-watering dish. The cooking classes are conducted by a great chef in a Chinese restaurant or in a proper cooking school.

Morning Tea and Tai Chi Tour
Learn how Chinese wisdom can be realised in daily life. Tai Chi, or "shadow boxing", is a graceful exercise developed from an ancient Chinese martial art that combines thought and action. It embodies Taoism - a stabilising of cosmic energy. The essence of tai chi is a combination of control and balance. Tea drinking is another serious business in Hong Kong. A Tang Dynasty scholar devised the first definitive treatise on tea-making more than 1,200 years ago, and it remains a thriving tradition today.
