  The "World's Wildest Race" begins in the tiny highlands town of Brinchang in Cameron Highlands. This 224km muscle aching, lung-heaving race traverses the Titiwangsa Range and ends with a challenging climb up Peninsular Malaysia highest mountain, Gunung Tahan. This non-motorized, multi-sports event streches over six days with top teams from around the world racing against time through Zone A of the race on a mountain bike from the highlands at Tanah Rata to inflatable rafts through rapids of the Telom River, and on a kayaks down the Jelai River and culminating in a trek up Gunung Tahan, or Zone B of the Race. This 'festival of lights' symbolizes the triumph of good evil, and is celebrated in seven month of the Hindu Calendar.   A phenomenon that occurs during the fasting month of Ramadhan is the unsual abundance and variety of food and street vendors and sales that appear in Kuala Lumpur and elsewhere. Both tourists and locals (Muslims and non-Muslims alike) take that opportunity to savor authentic 'hard-to-get' Malay dishes not often found at other times. Look out for the many locations that usually start around 3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon. And keep and eye open for the famous bubur lambuk (rice porridge), which is distributed free to public from mosques.
