AMPHOE MUANG
WAT PHRA KAEW DON TAO
This monastery is located opposite of Lampang town crossing the
Rachada Phisek Bridge, some 12 kms. In Tambon Wiang Nua, Amphoe Muang.
It is an important statutory place because the Emerald Buddha Had been
housed here for 32 years. There is a 50 meter high pagoda, housing
some hair of Lord Buddha, decorated the top part with Jango gold
sheet. At the base of the pagoda there are niches housing the 7 daily
Buddha images where in front of the pagoda situated a Burmese style
Vihara housing very beautiful Burmese style Buddha images.
WAT PRA TU PONG
This monastery is situated on the west side of the Wang River in
Tambon wiang Nua and regarded an important one of Lampang. It was
constructed, outside the line of the old town wall, on the location of
the town gate which is currently closed. The Vihara of this monastery
was constructed a little over 100 years ago, and panels of the doors
and windows are of beautiful wood carving works.
WAT SRI RONG MOUNG
This very old monastery is situated at a short distance beyound Wat
Pratu Pong displaying the very old interesting Burmese arts of
colorful stained glasses decoration alternating with gold guilt works
from base to top of every big pillar in the Vihara.
WAT CHEDI SAO
This monastery is situated near Lampang-Chae Hom Highway at Ban Wang
Moh, 6 Kms. From the township area. Looking from the highway one can
see a group of 20 pagodas of this monastery standing in the rice
field. It is one of the important statutory places, which was
constructed in the ancient days having a great historical and
archaeological value. Some small Buddha statues, in the form of
amulet, of Hariphunchai period have been found in the pagodas.
BAN SAO-NAK
Located in the center of Lampang city. Ban Sao-nak is a teak wood
house in a combination of northern Thai and Burmese architectural
styles which is distinctive and individual with its 116 teak pillars.

WAT PRATHAT SADET
This monastery is located 18 kms. From the township area on
Lampang-Ngao Highway where a left turn is to be made at Km. 16.9
through an access laterite road of one kilometer distance. The age of
this monastery is about the same as Wat Prathat Lampang Luang. Even it
has been renovated, ancient art features can be yet seen in the
monastery. Lord Buddha's relics, housed in the main pagoda of the
monastery display its miracle being, once in a while, to the public
this originating the name of Wat Phrathat Sadet (the presence of
Buddha's relics being)
KIU LOM DAM AND RESERVOIR
It is located about 38 kms. From the township area on Lampang-Ngao
Highway where a left turn is to be made at Km. 23.3 through another 14
kms. to the Royal Irrigation Department, open to the public everyday
from 06.00 - 18.00 hrs. For accommodatin, reservation can be made by

WAT SRICHUM
This monastery is situated on Lampang-Ngao Highway just passing the
main entrance of Lampang Teacher's Training College and Branching off
the Km. 601 on the left to this monastery. Its architecture is of
Burmese arts having very sophisticated and beautiful wood carving on
the structure of the Vihara while gold guilt works are found on the
walls, ceiling and big pillars in the Vihara, regarded as another
exquisite graceful beauty of Burmese arts. |

AMPHOE HANG CHAT
THAI
ELEPHANT CONSERVATION CENTRE
is located in the Tung Kwian forest of Amphoe Hang Chat, about
38 kms.from Lampang. This is the first and only school in
Thailand for training elephants and the first in the world. The
centre is attached to the veterinary section of the Northern
Timber Work Division of the Forestry Industry Organization. Two
shows daily at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. With additional show on
Saturday, Sunday and festival days at 1:30 p.m
DOI KHUNTARN NATIONAL PARK
is located within Lampang and Lamphun, has an area of 225 square
kilometers and and altitude of 1,272 meters. Access to the park
is possible by train and car. By car, turning right at km. 47
from Lampang-lamphun Road and driving 18 kms. more. There is a
1,362 meter-long tunnel, regarded the longest one in Thailand ,
for railroad lying underneath the mountain. There are
accommodations which belong to the Royal State Railway of

AMPHOE KO KHA
WAT PRA THAT LAMPANG LUANG
This monastery is the most important one in Lampang, located in
Tambon Lompang Luang, Amphoe Ko Kha, 18 kms. from the township
area, housing Pra Kaew Don Tao Buddha Image whose lap width is
6.50 inches, and overall height from the base to topknot is 8
inches. The base in made of flat-piece gold weighing a litter
over 285 grams while the head wear is of golden crown with
ornament made in the form of necklace weighing 105 grams.
WAT PRA THAT CHOM PING
Wat prathat chom ping is situated at Mu 5, Ban Chom Ping, Tambon
Na Kaew, Ampheo Ko Kha, about 26 kms. south - west of Lampang
Provincial city. The unnatural happening of this temple is the
shade of pagoda reflexed on the floor of the convocation hall
through the hole of its window, this similar event also happened
at Wat Akkho Khiri, Amphoe Chae Hom in Lampang. |

AMPHOE MUANG PAN
CHAE
SON NATIONAL PARK
Part of the multi-purpose project forest or Mae pai Forest,
Tambon Chae Son, Amphoe Muang pan, it is 72 kilometers from the
district town on the Lampang-Chae Hom Route. From a roadsign
indicating a left turn into Amphoe Muang Pan, one travels 14
kilometers farther before reaching the waterfall.
CHAE SON WATERFALL
Another beautiful waterfall with different features from Wang
Keao waterfall, it sends water cascading down 7 tiers, the first
and also the most beautiful of which hangs at a very high level.
The water does not scatter but drops in a vertical jet. Close to
chae Son Waterfall is Chae Son Hot (Mineral) Spa, Which is 1
kilometer away.
CHAE SON HOT SPA PARK
The park is renovated to become a beautiful park decorated with
captivating flower and green plots. The spa area is strewn with
rocky formations. At places, the water temperature reaches a
very high point, up to 75-80 degree celsius. A hot stream
flowing from the spa joins a cool stream from Chae Son waterfall
to form a stream of warm mineral water that is fit for bathing
and curative of skin diseases. Eleven bathrooms are available. A
most splendid feature of the spa is a summer occurrence in the
evenings when hundreds of thousands of cicadas swarm the stream,
bathing and drinking the mineral water and giving out shrill cry
to fill the jungle air. This is a natural event worth

AMPHOE NGAO
PHA THAI CAVE
lies at kilometer 67 on the Lampang - Ngao Road and hosts a big
Buddha image and colourful stalagmites.
CHAO PHO PRATU PHA SHRINE
This shrine is located 50 kms. from Lampang township area on the
right hand side of Lampang-Ngao Highway. It is a big spirit
shrine housing the state of Chao pho pratu pha (the spirit
ruling the area of Pratu Pha) highly revered by Lampang
inhabitants. The shrine was conducted in commemoration of a
smart soldier who was the right hand of a King of Lampang who
was killed in a battle by the Myanmar enemies at this Pratu Pha
Pass. |

AMPHOE WANG NUA
WANG
KAEW WATERFALL
This is Lampang's most beautiful waterfall and is in Amphoe Wang
Nua. Situated at 130 kilometers from the provincial town and 36
kilometers from Amphoe wang Nua, it is accessible by cars of all
types. With 110 tiers of cascading water including 7-8 large
tiers, it leads up to the top on which are found hilltribe
villages of the Yao at Ban Pa Kha luang and Ban San. |
